DOUBLE FEATURE

Our Careful Tending
by Tiffany Narron

In the fall of 2022, Our Careful Tending was brought to life for Art in the Heart, a project to unite, heal, and strengthen the community. The goal of the project is to use art to spark conversation and ideas on how to re-envision Pack Square Plaza to include the full diversity of the city's people. Our Careful Tending is a poem written and shared as a poetic grief circle holding space for the grief and harm of the past while weaving collective hope and care for the present-day into the future as a community.

The Sky is Falling
Misti Galvan and Kathy Leiner

How do our stories of loss connect us under one sky to ignite hope? The Sky is Falling, is an interactive installation and movement piece that invites the audience to play with perspective. Join us as we make a collaborative sky and take space to contemplate, create, and connect.

Tiffany Narron

Tiffany is a writer, poet, and bereavement doula living in the mountains of North Carolina, on Cherokee ancestral land. She writes what she calls poetic narrative, allowing the everyday flow of life to fuse with symbology, ritual, folklore, and deep spiritual reverence in nature. The dreamlike prose that emerges holds yearnings of the spirit and prayers that capture the delicate details of this living, interweaving them into self and our shared collective journey.

Misti Galvan

Misti Galvan is a dance artist and educator living in San Marcos, TX. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Choreography from Wilson College, and a BFA in Dance & BA in English from Texas State University. Her classical background includes influences from the New York and Chicago regions while her current artistic research interests are focused on improvisation, site-specific work, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Galvan was a member of the dance faculty at Texas State from 2018-2022 where she implemented a yoga teacher training program. Currently she is writing, podcasting, and creating new work around her experience with cancer. She plans to continue art making and teaching with a focus on special populations, especially those dealing with chronic pain, illness, and disability.
