One Last Night with Mary Maclane
by Nora Bonner
Nora Bonner performs her original-one woman acoustic rock musical, based on the life and mysterious death of Mary Maclane (1881-1929), a historical outcast famous for a diary she published at nineteen, in 1901. Ferocious, hilarious, Faustian, Maclane’s music testifies to the tormented relationship she has with her English teacher before finding her long standing devotion to the Devil. In fact, she attributes her success to the Devil Himself, after her first book, I Am Mary Maclane, sold 100,000 copies in its first month. Now, at the age of 48, Maclane attempts a rip-roaring self-tribute, so that she might remain in public consciousness before her “Darling Devil” comes to claim her for an untimely death.
