DIRTY LAUNDRY

DIRTY LAUNDRY is an autobiographical and immersive genre-bending performance written by Gina Cornejo and in collaboration with Stewart/Owen Dance. Be immersed within projected multimedia of "DIRTY LAUNDRY the film" and cringeworthy-yet-charming live (and new!) spoken word as Cornejo unapologetically discloses the irreverent unraveling of her marriage, divorce, and Queer reclamation.
Gina Cornejo
Gina Cornejo (she/her/they/them), multidisciplinary artist, lives in Asheville, NC, the daughter of a Peruvian mariachi singer and a professional jazz dancer. For 17 years, she claimed Chicago as her artistic home. As an Ensemble member of Teatro Luna, Gina contributed to this multiple Jeff Award winning Latinx/WOC company in Chicago, LA, and touring. Recently, her Artist-in-Residence performance of DIRTY LAUNDRY debuted at Story Parlor, featuring Gina’s live cringeworthy solo performance coupled with a collaborative film produced by Stewart/Owen Dance. Publicly disclosing the irreverent unraveling of her marriage, divorce, and queer reclamation, DIRTY LAUNDRY showcases varied intimate moments in a public sphere allowing for full emotional and transcendent impact. Gina serves on the Advisory Boards of Revolve, Story Parlor, and Trillium Arts, and can be seen in original work set to debut at Swannanoa Solstice at Wortham Center for the Performing Arts in December.
