moth eyes on my eidolon

  • Fleetwood's 496 Haywood Road Asheville, NC, 28806 United States (map)

This performance is part of the Random Acts of Fringe and is free to attend.

Honoring and exploring our shadow selves, strange daughters butoh presents a 3 hour experimental, improvised, intimate dance piece. "moth eyes on my eidolon" will investigate and embrace our shadow selves and inner demons, how we reflect them, walk in them, the appeal and disgust of them, and our search for the light. Audience members may stay for as little or as long as they would like. Please bring an item (that is legal & safe) symbolizing your inner demon or shadow self to be left on the altar.

About strange daughters butoh

Jenni Cockrell of strange daughters butoh is a dancer, choreographer and teacher of butoh and modern dance. She has been an active dance artist in Asheville for over 20 years, choreographing and performing her own work in addition to that of Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre, Moving Women, Legacy Butoh, and Anemone Dance Theater. Jenni approaches dance as a way to explore and deconstruct the quirkiness and rawness of life. Her improvisational process investigates symbol, archetype and imagery so that vulnerability, awkwardness and humor shine through.
