THE ACCIDENTALS

The Accidentals (Asheville's Creative Collective of Improvisational Artists Exploring Noise, Time, Audience, Levels, and Space) are a dance/improv group that makes free public art. They enjoy performing in unusual spaces, inside and outside, and are often inspired by the space where they perform as a starting point for their work. The Accidentals also love to invite members of the audience to participate in their performances and become part of the fun!

The feelings of both loss and desire are among the first and strongest emotions we experience as human beings. Desire is what keeps us alive, propagates us, but also destroys us. 'Hungry Ghost' is a poetic journey into the hazy netherworld of human craving, visualised through looping zoetrope animations.

Inspired by Michelangelo’s Flood Panel on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, underwater dancers falter, orient and support each other in a churning gyre of illuminated plastics.
