The Primordial Impasse by Marco Joubert

"« Why be afraid of the nothing in store for us when it is no different from the one which preceded us? »

A man shares his thoughts on the condition preceding our birth. A handful of fortuitous auditors are ephemerally linked by the synchronous experience of listening to this reflexive message.

The project is based on the writings of philosopher Emil Cioran."

A Flame in Our Midst by Elvert Bañares

In the shadowy kingdom of Dumalángto ruled by Aetudhaman, the one-eyed king, everyone is forced to believe that they are blind. While the king feeds on people's blood to gain more power, Elhanan, a sighted and discerning slave, gets enraged by the evil occurences. Seeing the spread of darkness, famine and injustice, he awaits the right moment when he can get hold of the tattoed winged horse to attack the one-eyed king and fuel the flames of the masses to rebel against the dominion.

Voyager Birdman by Gerald Habarth

Voyager Birdman is a frame-by-frame experimental animation featuring sounds of podcast voices, old radio programs and sampled audio recordings carried by the Voyager space probes that attempts to capture the fleeting dynamic of thoughts, memories and dreams experienced on a long night’s drive - much like the virtual and untethered character of contemporary existence - and the enduring lure of an interstellar connection.

Moth by Kate Weare & Jack Flame Sorokin

Moth explores female desire in a darkened space of imagination using a single light source: a lantern. The film complicates ideas of sexual objectification, regret, and loss by tracing the flux of whose feelings matter most in the act of coupling. Longing permeates Nicole Vaughan-Diaz’s rendition of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” originally written by Horace Ott as an apology to his girlfriend for his own bad behavior, and subsequently made famous by Nina Simone’s iconic interpretation.

That Which Fades by Leah Moth

A recent widow books a session with her late husband's escort, and through the confrontation of his infidelity, the two women unravel their frustrations of grief together.
