NEW FOR 2024

The Fringe LaZoom Tour is back!

This extremely popular tour has been missing from our festival for the last 2 years. But we’re so excited to join forces again with our longtime friends LaZoom Tours to bring you the most mysterious and moving 😉 90 minute theatrical experience in the festival!

New Venues!

  • Not only is Citizen Vinyl hosting our Preview Party, but we also have some of Asheville’s most beloved returning artists performing there. Who? Find out February 14 if you get a Freak Pass 💝

  • Noir Collective is a Black-owned boutique, art gallery, and bookstore featuring Black entrepreneurs, is located on “The Block” within the retail spaces of YMI Cultural Center, one of the oldest operating African American cultural centers in the United States.

  • Argot Room is a new venue adjacent to the restaurant Jargon in West Asheville. The owner is a puppetry enthusiast with a love of dinner theater, so be prepared to experience some unforgettable shows and snacks there!

SOME OF THIS YEAR'S ARTISTS

Nathalie Jonas

This first-time Asheville Fringe artist will transform the interior of a rented box truck into a space of encounter. A pile of dirt, construction lights, video of a power plant, appropriated texts and two humans inhabit a purpose-built dystopia, conjuring anthropocentric disorientations related to nature, industry, collapse and resistance.

Skysail Theatre

🏆 Asheville Fringe Award Winner

Skysail Theatre tells thoughtful, provocative, and entertaining stories centered around LQBTQ themes through live performance art. In 2022 the company premiered its award-winning first work, an original musical titled Tithonia: A Lesbian Opera, which toured the US Fringe festival circuit. Skysail Theatre creates interdisciplinary and collaborative works by blending music, theatre, movement, circus, and everything in between.

Vulva Va-Voom

Vulva Va-Voom is a legit musical theater triple threat gone bad. Very, very bad. They went from Tampa Bay's most respected professional theater companies to cutting-edge underground bar cabaret...but unfortunately outgrew those venues. With shows that are too edgy for upscale joints and too intellectual for dive bars, they now haunt the Fringe circuit. Honors include "The Social Good Award," 2 "Venue Choice," 3 "The Edge" Awards, a “Best of the Bay” Award, & 2 jury selections for curated Orlando Fringe festivals. Vulva's material is best summarized as "Carol Burnett violating Oscar Wilde with a rolled-up copy of 'The New Yorker.'"

Edwin Salas

🏆 Asheville Fringe Award Winner

It’s been 4 years since this prolific Asheville-based toy maker, puppeteer, dancer, and video game designer has been in our festival. He’s back this year with a dark retelling of Hansel and Gretel.
Edwin is a passionate and inspired performer who has performed in numerous countries across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Synamin Vixen

Journey into a physical world of movement, projection, and sound. This work is a meditation on grief, pleasure, and inviting silence; and audience members are invited to take their own journey of this space with headphones.

Synamin Vixen is a freelance artist, burlesque persona, community healer, and educator in New Orleans.

COOKIE TONGUE

🏆 Asheville Fringe Award Winner

This Fringe Award winning group, fronted by musician and animator Omer Gal, returns for the first time in-person since 2020, presenting a phantasmagorical musical theater production that blends psych-folk songs with whimsical multimedia visual elements and mythical storytelling.
